Old heat, new comfort.

Heating and cooling for Tacoma homes and small businesses — including the houses still warmed by wall heaters, baseboards and a furnace older than the mortgage.

Wall heaters in every room? That's the most common house we see here — and a ductless heat pump is usually the answer. Our wall-heater page adds yours up.

What we do

Three kinds of job

Replacements

Heat pumps, furnaces and ductless systems, sized from the building and quoted in writing.

Repairs

Diagnosis first, price second. We say plainly when a repair is worth it and when it isn't.

Service plans

One visit a year keeps a heat pump honest; two if there's a furnace and a cooling system.

Homes

For homes

Post-war bungalows in the South End, 1970s splits toward Parkland and newer townhomes near the waterfront. Different houses, mostly the same three questions: is it worth repairing, what replaces it, and can we finally have cooling?

  • Ductless heat pumpsFor houses with wall heaters, baseboards or no ducts at all.
  • Ducted heat pumps and furnacesWhere the ducts are sound and worth keeping.
  • Repairs and maintenanceIncluding the systems other companies would rather replace.

Add up what's on your walls

Count the heaters room by room and you can see, in kilowatts, how much electric heat the house depends on — and roughly what a ductless system would have to replace.

Business

For small businesses

Storefronts on Pacific and 72nd, offices above them, salons, clinics and church halls. Small commercial work that bigger outfits skip: through-wall units, splits, ductless and the ventilation that goes with them.

Questions

Before you call

Is Franklin Wall a drywall or wall company?

No. Wall is part of our name. We work only on heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

My house is heated by wall heaters. What are my options?

Usually a ductless heat pump, which heats far more efficiently and cools in summer. Our wall-heater page adds up what you have now.

Do I need a head in every room?

Not always. Open-plan rooms often share one; a bedroom that closes usually needs its own, or a small ducted unit can serve a run of bedrooms.

Do you repair old systems or only replace them?

We repair first where it makes sense, and say plainly when it does not.

Do you work on small commercial spaces?

Yes. Storefronts, offices above shops, salons, clinics and halls, including through-wall units and ductless suites.

Will I get a price before work starts?

Yes. Repairs are priced in writing after diagnosis, and replacements are proposed in writing.
